Teen ADHD
Expert ADHD evaluation and treatment for teenagers. Addressing the unique academic, social, and emotional challenges of ADHD during adolescence.
Adolescence brings unique challenges for teens with ADHD. Academic demands increase, social pressures intensify, and the executive function deficits associated with ADHD can create significant obstacles to success.
At RayMex Wellness, we specialize in evaluating and treating ADHD in teenagers. We understand that ADHD in teens often looks different from childhood ADHD — hyperactivity may decrease while inattention, disorganization, and emotional dysregulation become more prominent.
Our approach respects the developing autonomy of adolescents while engaging parents as essential partners in treatment. We provide medication management, psychoeducation, and practical strategies to help teens thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can ADHD develop during the teenage years?
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that begins in childhood, but it is often not diagnosed until the teen years when academic and social demands increase. Symptoms that were manageable in elementary school may become more apparent in middle and high school.
Will ADHD medication affect my teen's personality?
ADHD medication should not change your teen's personality. When properly prescribed and monitored, medication helps reduce ADHD symptoms so your teen can better access their existing abilities and personality. If you notice personality changes, this should be discussed with the provider to adjust the treatment plan.
Can teens have telehealth appointments without a parent present?
For minors, a parent or legal guardian must consent to treatment and be available during appointments. However, we respect adolescent confidentiality and encourage teens to share openly. We will discuss confidentiality boundaries with both the teen and parent.
